The Hong Kong Prize (hk prize), launched this year and sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, has received overwhelming support from universities, researchers and innovative enterprises across Hong Kong. This prestigious award seeks to recognize outstanding scientists or research teams whose discoveries have had widespread use for society benefit.

On 30 November, the winners of the Hong Kong Prize will be revealed at a special ceremony. Receiving this award comes with both a cash prize of HK$250,000 and an artistic trophy designed by Chan Ka-ming featuring Chinese characters for April and July that represent spring and autumn seasons respectively.

Hong Kong Foundation for Arts and Culture will receive the proceeds, using them to bolster expressive arts workshops for disadvantaged children in Hong Kong. Any remaining funds will go toward funding shortlisted works and the awards ceremony; winners can expect increased international visibility, top-tier media coverage, as well as access to world-class facilities at Hong Kong University.

Hong Kong’s top three athletes at the Paris Games will take home an estimated total of $12 Million, $6 Million and 3 Million respectively.
